10 Great Food Options At The Masters

The Masters is known for a lot of things, but as a spectator on the grounds at Augusta National some things become abundantly clear: the bathrooms are almost too clean, the merchandise shop line moves faster than you’d expect, the grass looks like field turf and the food is unbelievably low-priced and actually pretty good.

We’re not going to get into the unbranded domestic, imported or craft beers that sell for $4 or $5 a piece — not bad! — this is strictly solids.

The food at Augusta National ranges in price from $1 all the way to $3, and you could buy everything on the menu for just $56. So with so many choices, all of which hardly make a dent in your wallet, how should you prioritize your eating schedule between watching golf shots?

We’ve got you covered. If you have $30 burning a hole in your pocket and find yourself at a Masters practice or tournament round, here’s a quick round-up of what’s available and why you should try it.

Pimento Cheese Sandwich

Augusta National and pimento cheese sandwiches go together like Amen Corner and Sunday roars, you can’t have one without the other. The pimento cheese is the signature choice at Augusta and even if you’re not sure about the texture of the filling, the sandwich only costs $1.50. Live a little.

Georgia Peach Ice Cream Sandwich

If you’re at Augusta, you’re already on cloud 9, so you might as well treat yourself to some dessert whenever you come across it. The Georgia Peach Ice Cream Sandwich isn’t available at every concession stand, so pick one up while you can. It’s only $2.00.

Sausage Biscuit / Chicken Biscuit

While much of the ballyhooed food at the Masters is of the lunch/dinner variety, their breakfast is severely underrated. Both the sausage and chicken biscuits are a great way to start your day at Augusta National. Each will set you back $1.50.

Egg Salad Sandwich

The Egg Salad Sandwich has a cult-like following that will throw the pimento cheese truthers under the bus. Like its chief rival, the egg salad recipe is secret and unique to Augusta National. Like the pimento cheese, the egg salad is $1.50 as well.

Classic Chicken Sandwich

If you’re wary of going outside your comfort zone, the Classic Chicken Sandwich is the way to go. A fried chicken on a hamburger bun is the safest choice on the menu, but also really sneaky good. Don’t get greedy, however, it costs $3.00.

Georgia Pecan Carmel Popcorn

Concession stands are omnipresent around Augusta National and they’re so well run, you’ll hardly miss a shot. As such, you can pop in between sandwiches and grab a quick snack. If you’re doing so, start with the Georgia Pecan Caramel Popcorn; you won’t regret it. A bag goes for $1.50.

Ham & Cheese / Turkey & Cheese Sandwich

Another example of “you know what you’re getting.” You can’t go wrong with a traditional lunch sandwich, just make your choice between meat: ham or turkey. Both sandwiches go for $2.50.

Bar-B-Que Sandwich

The Augusta National Bar-B-Que Sandwich is another safe bet, especially if you don’t take your BBQ super seriously. The Masters take on the classic is about what you’d expect: a solid lunch that won’t offend your sensibilities. One of these goes for $3.00.

The chips at Augusta National are run-of-the-mill, but what sets this snack apart is the bag. If you’re a sentimental type, your chip bag could be a nice collectible piece. A bag for memorabilia’s sake runs you $1.50.

Masters Club Sandwich

Finally, the last sandwich on this list is the one that bears the name of the event. You can’t go to a Masters and not have a Masters Club Sandwich. It just wouldn’t be right. The club can be yours for $2.50.
