The Clubhouse: Patriot All-America Co-Founder Tom O’Malley

As the sports world turns its collective eye towards the college football bowl season, a select group of college golfers will be competing — and doing so for a cause.

The Patriot All-America, preparing for its fourth event, will be held Dec. 27-31 at The Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz. with Folds of Honor serving as the supported charity for the week.

The event, itself, features many of the nation’s top collegiate golfers — no matter their division. And that select group is sure to be among the game’s next generation of elite golfers. They’ll compete for one of the top titles on the amateur circuit and hope to add their name to the growing list of winners, which includes former Alabama star and two-time USA Walker Cup team member Cory Whitsett.

Invitation to the event is ultra-exclusive with only PING All-Americans receiving official invites. That has led to some impressive fields, which have included other notable players like Oliver Schniederjans, currently ranked as the top amateur in the world, and recent European Tour champion Brooks Koepka.

Tournament co-founder Tom O’Malley visited with John Maginnes and Jeff Rude on The Clubhouse to discuss the tournament, which honors the military by having each player in the field represent a fallen service member with their name and rank showcased on their golf bag throughout the event. According to O’Malley, the bags are then auctioned off with the proceeds supporting Folds of Honor, which provides scholarship and assistance to the family members of the fallen soldiers.

Former PGA Tour pro John Maginnes, longtime Golfweek Senior Writer Jeff Rude, and extreme sports champion Will Christien co-host Back9Network’s nightly talk show, The Clubhouse. The playful banter of Maginnes, Rude and Christien will echo the conversations one would hear at the 19th hole. The trio’s no-holds-barred discussions will cover the latest happenings both on and off the course, as they incorporate questions and guidance from viewers at home, celebrities and the game’s professionals.

Making a stop at The Clubhouse gives golf lovers across the country a perfect way to end the day, weeknights at 10 p.m. Eastern.
