Using Proper Golf Cart Etiquette

The No. 1 thing we need to be thinking about when we’re driving a golf cart on a golf course is safety. Carts are not toys and they can cause some serious harm if they’re not used correctly.

You need to make sure that your arms and legs are inside the golf cart at all times, that you’re aware of your surroundings at all times and be sure to operate the cart in the way that it was intended.

The next thing you need to think about is the rules of the golf course. Talk to the starter or the guys in the pro shop to find out what type of cart path day it is — scatter, 90-degrees or cart path only. Make sure you’re not driving anywhere that is roped off and abide by any signs you may see on the course.

Lastly, pay attention to how you park your cart, especially around tees and greens. Make sure all four wheels are on the path and your cart is positioned in a place that is beneficial for you from a distance standpoint as well as making sure your cart is not in the way for any of your playing partners.
