Tiger Woods Covertly Slips New 3-Wood In For Masters

Augusta native James Brown sang “Papa’s Got A Brand New Bag.”

Tiger Woods is singing that he’s got a new 3-wood in the bag this week at the Masters.

GolfWRX’s Greg Moore spotted this morning that Woods had decided to replace his old 3-wood with the latest from Nike Golf, the Covert VR/S.  Tiger’s previous 3-wood was his trusted Nike VR Pro Limited Edition.

Woods is notorious for being a stickler when it comes to his equipment. Despite Nike’s 2013 release of the new Covert driver, Tiger decided to stick with his VR Pro-Edition to start the season. It also took him almost two years to switch to a Nike Method putter instead of relying on his Scotty Cameron blade from past major victories. The fact he has not used this new 3-wood in a tournament before the year’s first major is questionable and has drawn significant attention.

Our correspondent and Tiger’s niece, Cheyenne Woods, spoke with Nike Golf about the Covert line at the PGA Merchandise Show in January.
