Any discussion about American fashion icons of the 20th century must include that of Tommy Hilfiger. Aptly labeled as “classic American cool,” Tommy Hilfiger is pretty much as preppy as brands come, which, in many ways, has made it a perfect fit for golf.

You certainly know the “Tommy” look when you see it: The collegiate haircut, cable-knit cardigan, striped Oxford shirt, skinny belt, colored chinos, sockless with penny loafers.

The last memorable appearance of Tommy Hilfiger on Tour came courtesy David Duval, who at the height of his powers shot a final-round 59 to win the 1999 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. Hilfiger’s reintroduction to the world of golf came via Keegan Bradley in early 2012, who signed on with the brand after his win at the 2011 PGA Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club when he became only the third player in history to win a major in his first attempt (Francis Ouimet at the US Open in 1913 and Ben Curtis at The Open in 2003 being the others).

Easily recognizable by his quirky pre-shot routine and his old-school oversized visor, Bradley is a lanky, intense sportsman of the purest sort — an apt personification of the Tommy Hilfiger brand. Bradley, Tommy Hilfiger’s golf All-American, is signed on to wear the classic red, white, and blue Hilfiger flag logo through the end of 2014.

“Golf represents the ultimate prep lifestyle,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “Our golf collections are inspired by the integrity and tradition of the sport. We’ve added a twist to the classics through an innovative use of fabrics and details, delivering performance, comfort and style in golf sportswear that can be worn on and off the course.”

Put your own personal spin on the classic Tommy Hilfiger prepster look. Consider this your starter kit to conjure your inner Keegan: Golf Stripe Polo, $78. Leather Casual Belt, $35. Pinstripe Pant, $100. Top it off with a Shawl Cardigan during the post round festivities for good measure, $60.
