The World’s Largest Golf Cart

Two stories about two vastly different topics landed in our inbox today.

On the one hand, we read about the longest golf cart in the history of golf carts — it measures 21 feet, 11 inches from tip to tip.

We’re guessing this thing is not electric. It looks more like a monster truck, especially with the tiny car underneath it. We have a feeling that the 90-degree rule won’t apply — it’s cart path only for this beast. And those paths better be wide.

The good thing is that when we slice our tee shot into the woods, the 49-inch tires on this gas-guzzling, off-road machine will save us from having to walk through the poison ivy to find our Titleist.

At the complete opposite end of the spectrum is this: National Walk the Course Day.

Sponsored by push cart manufacturer Bag Boy, all golfers are urged to walk their rounds on June 8. Participating courses will donate $1 to their local First Tee chapter for every golfer that opts to hoof it.

In a press release, the company outlined the benefits of walking instead of riding: 721 calories burned over 9 holes vs. 411, and 2.5 miles walked vs. about a half mile.

Plus, of course, there’s no cart fee.

Golfers who participate in Walk the Course Day will be entered in a drawing to win a TriSwivel push cart and accessory pack. The TriSwivel is Bag Boy’s newest high-tech push cart, which features a front wheel that rotates 360 degrees.
