Phantastic Phil’s Callaway Sticks

Phil Mickelson’s performance at the Waste Management Phoenix Open was nothing short of amazing, punctuated by a record-breaking 28-under-par finish. Let’s take a closer look at what he had in his golf bag this week.

Most of the attention was placed on Lefty’s driver, the new Callaway RAZR Fit Xtreme. Mickelson used a 8.1-degree actual loft on his boomstick this week. He’s usually working with around six-and-a-half degrees of loft. That’s like hitting a golf ball with a sheet of ice. No wonder Lefty has a tendency to get himself into trouble off the tee.

Mickelson also carried a TaylorMade Rocketballz (13-degree, bent to 11.5 degrees) 3-wood this week, a club he had been spotted with during practice sessions last fall.

Rounding out his bag, according to Today’s Golfer:

5-wood: Titleist 980F 5-wood (17-degree) with a Graphite Design PM 902 shaft
Irons: (4-PW): Callaway RAZR X Muscleback with True Temper Project X 7.0 shafts
Wedges: Callaway JAWS Wedges (52 degrees, 60 degrees, 64 degrees)
Putter: Odyssey Black Series Tour Design #9
Ball: Callaway HEX Black Tour
