ORLANDO, Fla. — Have you ever struggled to draw the perfect water buffalo or rocket ship on your golf ball? Heck, who hasn’t? Luckily, aspiring golf ball artists everywhere now have a simple solution to draw better than a dot or straight line.
One of the more innovative, yet simply designed, products showcased at the 2013 PGA Merchandise Show was Tin Cup’s ball markers. This handy metal stencil is by no means technologically complicated, but it is easily one of the best golf personalization products I’ve seen in a long time.
Tin Cup offers hundreds of stencil options ranging from college mascots to moustaches and other pop culture images. Want a palm tree on your Titleist? No problem. How about a gorilla on your Srixon? Consider it done. You can also place a personalized order through the company website.
I met with Cabell Fooshe’, president of Tin Cup, at their booth to learn more.
“We started in 2009 and really lucked out on the name ‘Tin Cup’ since the movie just gave up the rights to that title,” Fooshe’ said. “By Fall of 2009 we were featured in Golf Digest and the orders started flying in. At that point we knew we had something special.”
Tin Cup was so successful that they won Product of the Year honors at the 2010 PGA Show.
“We’re in 1200 stores now, just reached an agreement with the NCAA to feature their logos and we continue to grow every year,” Fooshe’ continued.
“Most of our designs are based on the premise that we want to give you a positive thought in your head before you hit your golf ball. That’s why designs like the four-leaf clover, martini glass, rocket and lucky-7 designs are so popular.”
