TRUE Linkswear has been making comfortable, high-performance golf shoes for players at every level for years now. An avid fan of the brand myself, I was highly impressed by the company’s new 2013 Sensei line and just had to take a closer look.
Developed with the walking golfer in mind, the new Senseis (is the plural of Sensei also Sensei?) even more comfortable than last year’s model. Late last season the Sensei line got quite a bit of attention thanks to PGA Tour vet Ryan Moore winning in Vegas while wearing the shoes on the same day the company co-founder Rob Rigg ran in the Portland Marathon wearing his pair. Needless to say, these shoes are both versatile and raise the bar in athletic comfort.
When I finally got my hands on a pair I was blown away by the improvements in what I already thought was the perfect walking golf shoe. The 2013 series features an improved barefoot platform design that brings the player’s feet closer to the ground, providing a feel for your game you never thought possible. The soft 3D-mesh outer liner is another huge improvement over the 2012 model, which had a tendency to get a bit stiff during the round. The softer outer mesh in this year’s offering has no chance of repeating that sensation.
While the arches in TRUE golf shoes are a bit lower than normal, the memory foam heel and high-traction outsole offer incredible support in what is marketed as a minimalist golf shoe. I could definitely feel every break and hill under my feet when walking on a practice green near my home, which will help in reading putts on the course.
The Sensei by TRUE Linkswear is available in four different color combinations, including the super-awesome Grey/Kelly/Charcoal pair I was able to review, and retails for $99.99.
