Gearing Up: Mizuno JPX-EZ Irons

When it comes to choosing the right set of irons for your game, the sheer volume of options can make the decision difficult. Do you choose a game improvement iron? Should you go with forged or cavity back? Which club shaft should you pick?

If you are a mid- to high-handicapper looking for a new set of irons to boost your confidence on the course, look no further than the new JPX-EZ series by Mizuno.

First and foremost, these irons look incredible. Coated with a grey-gold tarnish that will stick out among the competition, the JPX-EZ irons also look like forged irons while offering a ton of forgiveness in each clubhead. If you’re like me and need an iron that looks as good as it feels, then you will love the JPX-EZ irons.

So what makes these clubs easy to hit? Simple: the multi-layer construction in each club. The 4- through 7-irons all feature thin, multi-thickness clubfaces that promote maximum distance and ball speeds thanks to a huge sweet spot. During a recent driving range test of these clubs I was routinely hitting the ball 10 to 15 yards further than my current forged irons. It was kind of shocking, actually.

Next, the 8- through gap wedge irons combine the same massive hitting area with a low center-of-gravity that helps you lift the ball into the air no matter your lie. I hit these clubs out of the rough, sand, divots and dirt and got the same club responsiveness as I did when hitting out of the fairway.
