Callaway Apex MB, UT Irons Designed For The Better Player

Callaway Golf officially unveiled on Friday the latest addition to its growing Apex iron family, the Apex MB.

Available for pre-order starting today, the Apex MB — along with the Apex UT irons — were designed specifically for the better player while encompassing feedback from the company’s tour staff, including Gary Woodland, Pat Perez and Marc Warren. These clubs arrive following the success of the Apex and Apex Forged iron options released earlier this year.

According to the announcement of the irons late last month, the new Callaway Apex MB and Apex UT irons were specifically designed for the low-handicapper in your foursome.

“This is an exercise in attention to detail,” Alan Hocknell, Callaway’s Senior Vice President of Research and Development, said of the Apex MB in a statement. “There was a lot of tour player feedback on subtle shaping changes and subtle changes to the sole camber in the way it interacts with the turf.

“We think the effect of that attention to detail really comes through when you actually do get a chance to hit it.”

The Apex MB clubs are crafted from 1020 carbon steel, while the Apex UT – meant to be more of a driving iron – is forged from the same Carpenter 455 steel used in Callaway’s X Hot series.

Both clubs feature a thin top line at address and are much more “blade-like” than what you will find in the previous Apex releases.
