Earlier in the week the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) visited the Ely Callaway Performance Center in Carlsbad, Calif. Luckily for golf equipment junkies like myself, the SCGA team brought a camera crew along for the ride.
The result? Unbelievable footage from what can only be described as “Golf Club Heaven”.
As you can see, this facility has everything: multiple product testing bays, golf club-swinging robots, a full-functioning practice area and even a constant stream of PGA Tour professionals stopping by for a visit. Phil Mickelson is even considered the “local golf pro” for the center since he lives down the street.
It is basically Narnia with golf ball dimples. Plus Phil Mickelson. Who also has dimples.
One of the coolest exhibits on display at the Callaway Performance Center is the Odyssey Putting Lab, which features a wide range of prototype and brand new flatsticks to play around with. There is even a small display where you can find gold-plated replicas of the putters used to win recent major championships.
