Always looking to expand its reach, the TPC Network will officially unveil its first South American golf course on Friday: TPC Cartagena at Karibana. Cartagena is a coastal city in Colombia.
The Tournament Players Club Network is licensed by the PGA Tour and made up of 33 properties across the United States, Mexico and now Colombia, with each course designed to host PGA Tour-sponsored tournaments. TPC Cartagena will host the Karibana Championship on the Web.com Tour starting in March 2015. Created by Jack Nicklaus Design, the course is the second one outside the U.S. to earn the TPC’s stamp of approval; the first was TPC Cancun in Mexico.
TPC Cartagena’s front nine winds through a natural forest and features six man-made lakes. The back nine runs primarily along the Caribbean Sea, offering scenic views.
One of 15 non-private TPC clubs, TPC Cartagena includes access to the Karibana Beach Club, which offers three exclusive beaches, a full-service bar, pool, sundeck and the Maroma Restaurant.
A five-star, 270-room hotel will join Karibana in June 2016, and will include a 1,000-person convention center, meeting rooms, restaurants, a pool, a world-class spa and a rooftop bar. The hotel will be managed by Conrad, the luxury brand of Hilton Worldwide.
