Long Drive: World’s Longest Golf Course Spans 848 Miles

If you’re looking to play the world’s longest golf course, you won’t find it in the U.S. You’ll have to take a trip to Nullarbor Links in Australia — and don’t expect it to be like any course you’ve ever played before.

The 18-hole course spans 848 miles across the southern coast of Australia, requiring a car to conquer it.

What makes it so unique is that a hole is located in each of the participating towns along the way, why it’s so insanely long.

Some holes are part of courses along the Eyre Highway, while others are custom-made with just a tee box and green — the rest is natural terrain.

You’ll have to resign yourself to hitting shots from less-than-ideal lies with all of the rugged, overgrown landscape between the tee box and green. Anything and everything can happen out there, but that doesn’t mean it’s too difficult. The current course record stands at a net-72.

For added assistance, Nullarbor links provides a guide to playing each hole and avoiding danger. Some hazards to watch out for include snakes and a cow who enjoys stealing the golf balls. “Spraying smelly stuff” is recommended.

To play the course, it’ll cost you 70 Australian dollars (roughly $61), which isn’t a too bad at all. Getting the chance to play holes from different courses makes it worth the money, and it’s a unique experience you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

Based on the reviews, it sounds like a blast — why wouldn’t it be? On TripAdvisor.com, it received 4 1/2 stars out of five with almost every user recommending it to readers.

Below are more photos of the incredible landscape throughout the course:
