Jack Nicklaus had a bunch of mini-tour pros over for a BBQ around a small, beautiful lake at his North Palm Beach estate. He announced a contest to all of them. If any person present dared to swim across the lake, the successful swimmer would win $10,000, or instead of the money, Jack would share his golf secrets and his secrets to keep a good mental attitude during a round, which enabled him to win more majors than any other golfer. Jack also told everyone that there were 10 hungry alligators in the pond.
After a period of silence, all watched as one intrepid golfer suddenly splashed into the lake and began swimming like hell. He was swimming so fast it looked like he was running on top of the water, throwing up an incredible wake.
After crossing the lake and climbing out breathless just ahead of several gators rapidly closing in on him, he laid a safe distance away on the ground dripping wet and completely exhausted. The others gave him a thunderous applause.
Jack, amazed at the young golfer’s bravery, couldn’t believe it. He congratulated the golfer and then asked if he would prefer the $10,000 or to know Jack’s secrets to winning majors?
The young golfer caught his breath and said, “Let’s start by finding out which one of you a**holes pushed me in!”
